Perfect length my man.

I can so personally relate to kindle vs. fire. I totally agree that both strategies to get and keep traction are necessary, but there are two critical elements missing I feel:

1) INVENTORY!

While you do need some good quality eyeballs on your platform, not matter how much you optimize your channels & campaigns, there will never be good CAC/CLTV if you don‘t have enough relevant supply! How much us enough/what‘s optimal? That depends on category/vertical I suppose. For AirBnB it was ~13 listings per city. Then growth took off (elbow effect).

2) A GREAT FRIGGING UX!

If your site looks and feels like dogshit, no amount of marketing $ spent will compensate. You don‘t have to delight customers at first - but at least make them feel like they‘re on a platform that‘s safe, reliable, trustworthy and relevant.

So yeah, light the fire, stirr the flames up but then the monetization of your platform will only start working if you nail points 1+2 in my point of view
